Every Second Sunday of the month is FOOD PANTRY SUNDAY, helping the homeless and low income families and/or individuals. These donations offset purchases made by our parish from Second Harvest. Donations can be brought to St. Martha/Infant Jesus churches anytime, but we offer the Second Sunday of each month in remembrance of those who are less fortunate through our donations and prayer.

Prayer For The Poor
by Mother Teresa
Make us worthy, Lord,
to serve those people throughout the world
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them through our hands,
this day, their daily bread,
and by our understanding love,
give them peace and Joy.
Amen

Food Bank (504-368-1397)
A few parishioners of Infant Jesus of Prague Church started the Food Bank over 20 years ago. Today the Food Bank serves approximately 60 bag lunches per month to homeless street people and provides groceries to approximately 160 needy families once a month who live in the church parish boundaries. Strict records are kept to insure that the truly needy are provided food.
The following are required for families requesting monthly groceries: ID, proof of address, proof of income, and social security card numbers for family members. The street people are required to sign for their lunches. Bag lunches and monthly family groceries are distributed every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 to noon.
Cash and food donations are provided to the Food Bank by parishioners of Infant Jesus and St. Martha Parishes, and various businesses on the Westbank. Second Harvest is a major contributor to the Food Bank.
We need volunteers to help with the Food Bank. Please contact the office for information.
